Downtown San Diego is the business core of San Diego County. Today, huge cranes are constructing a world-class neighborhood of lofts, condominiums, shops and restaurants. Nearly $3 billion in projects are planned throughout downtowns neighborhoods, encompassing 9,000 homes. Downtown San Diego is gorgeous, with its panoramic views of the bay, harbor and ocean.
Historical communities are sprinkled throughout downtown, including Little Italy, Cortez Hill, the Gaslamp Quarter, Horton Plaza, the East Village, and the Marina District; each with its own character and lifestyle. Petco Park, home of the San Diego Padres baseball team, is located on Park Boulevard, across the street from the San Diego Convention Center. The Gaslamp District features over 100 restaurants and nightspots, while the East Village houses the central San Diego Library.
The greater San Diego area has a host of attractions including Sea World, Balboa Park, San Diego Zoo, Legoland, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park.
